ASAP Elections: Call for Nominations

ASAP Elections: Call for Nominations

Greetings All:

The Fall 2008 Association of Student Affairs Professionals Election Process has officially begun! Please read the following information carefully to learn more about the election and nomination processes.

As a quick reminder, only current voting members of ASAP are eligible to vote or run in elections. In addition, those running for positions must be continuing students (part-time or full-time) in the 2008-2009 academic year. If you are not an ASAP member but would like to run for office, please contact Patricia Amboise (pat.ambroise@gmail.com) about paying the $35 membership dues before the Saturday, November 8th nominations deadline at 5:00pm. Online voting will begin on Wednesday, November 12th at noon.

Please contact Samantha Joesph to read an excerpt from the ASAP Constitution to learn more about the specific responsibilities of each position. Also, feel free to contact whoever is currently in the position you’re interested in if you’d like to learn more about what they’ve done. Keep in mind that you may only run for one position.

To run for a position, please submit a written speech of 100-250 words (Speeches exceeding this length will be returned for editing). In your speech, include why you’re interested in that position, what qualities you hope to bring to the position, and what you’d like to accomplish during your year in office. Please attach your speech as a Word document and make sure you clearly indicate which position you are running for. All speeches must be received by Saturday, November 8th at 5:00pm!Please note that the Chat & Chew Transition meeting is scheduled for Thursday, December 11th at 6:30 p.m. This meeting is the official transition to the new Executive Board and Leadership Team.

I encourage all eligible ASAP members, both part-time and full-time students, to consider running for a position. If you have any questions about the elections process or ASAP in general, please let me know! I’ll be happy to help!

ASAP Town Hall Meeting

Wednesday, October 15th at 6:45 pm - 8:30 pm in Pless Hall Lounge, 82 Washington Square East.

Join us for Town Hall this Wednesday at the Pless Hall Lounge. There, we will have an opportunity to speak with some of the faculty in our program and learn about current issues pertaining to the Higher Ed program; a forum will be provided to ask questions and voice your opinions.

ASAP @ NYU Announces OCTOBER SOCIAL EVENTS

Please join us for these fun and exciting events this month:

Tuesday, October 14th: Pizza and Brooklyn Bridge Walk @ 6:30pm Join us for some of the best pizza in Brooklyn at Grimaldi's (19 Old Fulton Street) at 6:30 pm. From there we will walk across the Brooklyn Bridge to enjoy the night skyline of Manhattan and have an essential NYC experience.

Monday, October 20th: Happy Hour at 1849 @ 7:00pm
1/2 Price Beer and Well drinks until 8pm. 20 cent wings all night!
Bring friends, all are welcome. 1849 is on Bleecker Street between MacDougal and Sullivan.
